Report reaching Eye9ja says former Nigerian President, Abdulsalami Abubakar is ‘critically sick’ and has been flown abroad for medical treatment.

Eye9ja reports that Abubakar who is the current Chairman of the National Peace Committee in Nigeria is currently sick and had been hospitalised in a hospital based in the United Kingdom.

The news about his health state was disclosed by Jackson Ude, a Communications Professional and former Director of Strategy and Communication under former President Goodluck Jonathan on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Thursday night, September 19.

“Please pray for General Abdulsalami Abubakar. He is sick and hospitalized in a London Hospital,” Ude, who is also a journalist, tweeted.

Meanwhile, Eye9ja understands that Abdulsalami Abubakar is a retired Nigerian Army General who was Nigeria’s Military Head of State from 9 June 1998 until 29 May 1999.

Abdulsalami Abubakar had succeeded Sani Abacha upon Abacha’s death after which Abdulsalami Abubakar transferred power to president-elect Olusegun Obasanjo on 29 May 1999.
