Two persons have been killed while an undisclosed number of persons have been left injured after some unknown gunmen on Sunday, attacked two villages in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State, northern Nigeria.
Eye9ja understands that those injured include a soldier suspected to be that of the Nigerian Army.
The attackers were reported to have laid siege on Shaforon and Kodumti villages around 1:00 am on Sunday, and unleashed mayhem on households.
While confirming the attack, the Principal Medical Officer of Numan General Hospital, Dr. Nuhu Tari said two persons rushed into the hospital died.
Similarly, the Adamawa state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Suleiman Nguroje, while speaking on the attack, identified the attackers as cattle rustlers.
According to him, “One of the attackers was killed in the crossfire with security operatives and his corpse has been deposited at the Numan mortuary.
“The CP has dispatched additional operatives to join other security agencies to comb the bushes in the area and arrest the fleeing cattle rustlers,” DSP Nguroje noted.
