Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has cautioned against the plans to hike Value Added Tax (VAT) from 5 percent to 7.5 percent.
Eye9ja reports that the federal government is proposing the hike to fund infrastructure development in the country.
However, Adeboye who seems not to be pleased with the development noted that the move will put more burdens on Nigerian, describing it as insensitive.
Eye9ja understands that Pastor Adeboye said this recently at the Special Independence Day Celebration of the church at its headquarters, RCCG, Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Also, he faulted the closure of borders to importation of rice, saying it is ill-conceived because it has made the stable unavailable to Nigerians.
The clergyman who was represented by the Assistant General Overseer, Administration and Personnel Pastor Johnson Adeboye, said many government policies are not helping the masses.
This is as he lashed out on the government for planning to bring back toll gates in the country, adding that roads are in bad shape in Nigeria.
