EFCC Charges Ex-Aviation Minister For Money Laundering

Ex-aviation minister, Senator Stella Oduah, has been allegedly accused of money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Eye9ja report that Stella Oduah was charged for laundering the sum of N9.5 billion fund for security equipment at airports during her tenure as the Aviation Minister between 2012 and 2014.

The EFCC made this accusation against the senator in an affidavit to support a suit filed before the Federal High Court.

According to the EFCC, the ex-minister connived with bank officials to divert the fund and used the money to procure broadcast equipment for Crystal Television Ltd, newspaper printing press, six dredgers, and quarry.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Abuja Federal High Court Division has on October 18, 2019, granted the anti-graft agency’s prayer and ordered that the items Oduah allegedly procured with the fund be temporarily forfeited.

Further proceedings on the matter have been fixed for November 19.
