A Nigerian lady, Mrs Kafayat Amusan on Wednesday gave birth while on board an Emirates Airline flight conveying Nigerian returnees from the United Arab Emirates.
Eye9ja reports that Amusan who is also part of the first batch of Nigerians expected from the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, forced the airline to return to base after she went into labour mid-air.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, confirmed this in a statement obtained by Eye9ja on Wednesday.
The plane made a U-turn after the woman who gave birth developed complications.

“A Nigerian lady, Mrs. Kafayat Amusan, one of the stranded Nigerians travellers returning from Dubai, has been delivered of a baby,” she said.
“She developed complications on board , which resulted in the plane returning back to Dubai after take-off. She is currently admitted at a hospital in Dubai.”
According to Dabiri-Erewa, Mohammed Rimi, the Nigerian ambassador in Dubai, and staff of the embassy are in touch with the mother and child who are in good condition.
“Emirates had to change to another aircraft which is now enroute Lagos with 265 returnees on board,” she added.
Meanwhile, at least 265 returnees are on the flight which is expected to touch down in Nigerian at the later hour of Wednesday.
