Eye9ja understands that the Nigerian Soldiers were attacked at a checkpoint in Monguno, a town in Borno state.

According to a security source, the insurgents hit the town around 12:30pm and opened fire against the soldiers at a checkpoint in the town.
The soldiers reportedly responded but the insurgents who had sneaked into the town were said to have overpowered them.
The security operatives were said to have retreated to the sector 3 headquarters where they reinforced.
The terrorists and the soldiers exchanged gunfire, while many residents fled into the bush.
This reliable online news platform gathered that there were many internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the town and a source said the insurgents have gained access into the camps. but not the reports are yet to be confirmed.
This online news platform understands that few hours ago, Air force jets were patrolling the town while soldiers were on the ground engaging the insurgents in a gun battle.
This attack against the Nigerian Soldiers at their checkpoint, a place of their duty comes two days after Boko Haram killed over 60 persons at Faduma Kolomdi village in Gubio local government area of Borno state.
