1. RRR: President Buhari Launches Financial Innovation and Access programme

President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government launched the Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access programme (EFInA) on January 19. It is one of the administration’s technology-based financial inclusion strategies. The program features the transfer of cash to recipients.

During the virtual flag-off of the initiative named Rapid Response Register (RRR), Vice President Yemi Osinbajo described the move as a step in lifting people out of poverty in the next two years.

The Department of State Services (DSS) says the arrest of Mallam Salihu Tanko-Yakassai, popular on Social media as Dawisu, the Media Aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State followed issues beyond the expression of opinion in social media.

The Public Relations Officer of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya, announced this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

The Project Delivery Office (PDO) of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Survival Fund Grant on Sunday branded as “fraudulent” portals claiming the list of successful applicants has been released.

According to an official statement, “the Committee has not posted any list of shortlisted candidates”.

Popular Nigerian producer Ayorinde Faboro a.k.a. Dr. Frabz has been shot dead in the United States.

Dr. Frabz is famous for having worked with artists like Omawumi, Wizkid, Dagrin, and Davido. His death was announced by fellow music producer Samklef on his Twitter page.

A claim by a Twitter user had declared that popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi met with kidnappers of Kagara students in Tagina forest in Niger State, North-Central Nigeria.

“Here is Sheikh Abubakar Gumi meeting with kidnappers of Kagara students in Tagina Forest, Niger State. In a sane country people like Sheikh would have been jailed, but no. The Nigerian government is the government for terrorists only not for the Citizens,” reads the tweet, complemented with a photo of Gumi speaking with some men.

A rights activist, Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, widely known as ‘Sunday Igboho’ on Saturday met with the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams.

Igboho has been in the news lately due to his eviction notice to murderous herdsmen that have been accused of several crimes in the South-West region. He enforced the same.
