The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) and its Director-General, Oluwatoyin Gafaar ‘Bolowotan’, have been accused of unfairly denying squash athletes who formerly represented Lagos their entitlements.

Eye9ja gathered that the LSSC organized a ‘Loyalty Award’ event on Thursday at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, “to reward Abuja 2018 National Sports Festival (NSF) medal-winning athletes who are still representing Lagos State”.

2. Bandits Kill 2,619, Abduct 1, 190 Persons In Zamfara – Official

Authorities in Zamfara State have revealed that not less than 2,619 persons have been killed in various attacks by bandits in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, disclosed that the deaths were recorded in the state between 2011 and 2019.

Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has said that he allowed captain, Ahmed Musa, to feature in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Lesotho on Tuesday simply because “he was in good shape”.

It would be recalled that Rohr had invited the former Leicester City of England forward for Nigeria’s last two AFCON qualifying matches, much to public debate as to whether his invitation is appropriate or not.

4. We Shot Down The Missing Nigerian Fighter Jet, Boko Haram Claims

Boko Haram terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the missing Nigerian fighter jet. The militant group said it shot down the fighter jet that the air force said may have crashed. The jihadists made the claim in a video released on its social media page on Friday.

According to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Alfa light attack jet was on a mission to support troops fighting the terrorist in northeastern Borno state when it lost radar contact on Wednesday.

5. Easter 2021: 70 Families To Be Inducted Into St. Thomas Cathedral’s Hall Of Fame

The Cathedral Church of St. Thomas, Badagry will induct 70 families into its hall of fame to commemorate the Easter celebration.

Prince Setonji Koshoedo, the Chairman, Planning Committee of the church, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday.

6. N-Power: Five Months After Re-validation, Minister Farouq Continues to Disregard Beneficiaries’ Outstanding Stipend Arrears

Five months after the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development asked Batches A and B beneficiaries who are owed multiple months stipends to see their State Focal Person, Sadiya Farouq, who heads the ministry has continued to ignore their cries.

More than 14,000 bonafide N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries, who were disengaged from the famed scheme since July 2020 have not been paid their entitled stipends (many of them owed March to July, and Wema Bank users didn’t get paid for June 2020). This, despite the revalidation exercise that happened in October 2020 across major Nigerian states.

7. Five Youths Going For Wedding Ceremony Gunned Down By Soldiers

Soldiers of the Nigerian Army shot dead five youths in Baka village in the Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Per a report from Daily Post, the youths who were riding motorcycles on Friday were shot by the soldiers who assumed that they were kidnappers.

9. Beggars In Oyo State Protest Over Low Patronage

No less than 250 beggars in Ibadan, on Thursday, April 1, protested low patronage by members of the public after the spread of a recent rumour that they sell money gotten from people to ritualists.

Imam Abubakar Abdullahi, the Spokesperson for the indigent beggars spoke to Vanguard and refuted the rumour, saying it had created deep hatred for his people.
