CAN President To End Tenure As Nigerian Baptist Convention President June 1

Samson Ayokunle, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Tuesday described Nigeria President, Mr Muhammadu Buhari as a religious biased and incompetent president, Eye9ja learnt.

The president revealed this while speaking at the Holy Convocation organized by the Victory Life Bible Church in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The CAN President who spoke on the theme of the convocation, ‘The state of the nation: The way forward’, argued that the insecurity and other vices being witnessed in the country were a result of negligence on the part of the Buhari administration.

Ayokunle, who is also worried about the spate of insecurity and criminality in the country, lamented that criminals were being more professional than various security outfits in Nigeria.

Reacting to President Buhari’s slothfulness, he said Buhari was not elected as a president to complain about past leaders’ mistakes or what they do right.

He said, “We put you there to secure the nation; we didn’t put you there to be complaining about bad leaders.

“The criminals are behaving more professionally than the regular law enforcement agents. You were complaining about past leaders; we knew that the past leaders didn’t do well and we approached you to make the change.”

Recall that there have been recent attacks on the South East region by unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits. Before now, the news of bandits abducting school children in the Northeast and asking for a huge ransom to release them is what has deepened the security challenges in the country.

Some gunmen with sophisticated weapons attacked the Owerri Correctional Prison in Imo State and freed no fewer than 1500 inmates.

According to the reports, the attackers also razed the Imo State Police Command headquarters situated in Owerri and burnt almost all the vehicles parked at the command headquarters.

The Gunmen who reportedly operated from1 am till 3 am on Monday further freed the suspects in almost all the cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the state command.

On Tuesday, AllNews reported that gunmen have again set on fire another police division in Ehime/Mbano, Imo State, along with some vehicles This is coming barely 48 hours after some unknown gunmen set the State Police Command ablaze.

The Police Spokesman in Imo, SP Orlando Ikeokwu confirmed the attack on the police division to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
