6.9 Million Customers File Complaints: Demanding N214.32bn Refund Against Access Bank, UBA, and five other banks.

New data has revealed that Access Bank and United Bank of Africa, along with five other Nigerian banks, have received over 6.9 million customer complaints demanding a refund of N214.32bn between January 1 to December 31, 2022.

These figures represent a 54% increase from the previous year and are linked to the rise in electronic transactions. The complaint figures were included in the banks’ annual financial reports, submitted to the Nigerian Exchange.

Eye9ja.com analyzed the reports and found that out of the total complaints, 6.76 million were resolved, while 142,636 were carried over to 2023.

Access Bank had the highest number of customer complaints, followed by United Bank for Africa and Guaranty Trust Holding Company. Zenith Bank, Wema Bank, Union Bank of Nigeria, United Bank for Africa, Guaranty Trust Holding Company, and Jaiz Bank also received customer complaints.

Zenith Bank, Union Bank of Nigeria, United Bank for Africa, Guaranty Trust Holding Company, Wema Bank, and Jaiz Bank are among the banks customers demanded a refund from.
