The specific responsibilities tied to this role encompass a range of vital tasks, including but not limited to:

Payroll of  a Bookkeeper

  • Thoroughly validating timesheets, effectively managing vacation allocations, and meticulously accounting for labor transfers, payroll expenses, and associated deductions within our accounting software.
  • Ensuring meticulous record-keeping that underpins the seamless execution of payroll processes. This includes responsibilities such as issuing terminations, ROEs, T4’s, and maintaining comprehensive records for foreign workers.
  • Familiarity with Ceridian would be an advantageous asset.

Accounts Payable:

  • Conducting the day-to-day processing of AP transactions, ensuring the continued maintenance of accurate, up-to-date corporate financial records.
  • Skillfully preparing invoices for payment by assigning appropriate coding to ledger accounts, aligning them with purchase orders, or following guidance from department managers/supervisors.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for interactions with vendors and suppliers.
  • Diligently organizing and archiving documents and invoices to uphold an orderly and precise record-keeping system.


  • Compiling comprehensive management reports, encompassing aspects such as sales, variances between budgeted and actual performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), labor control, transaction analysis, and more.

Requirements For Bookkeeper job

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, with a preference for experience in the Premier Retail Edition.
  • Familiarity with Ceridian Payroll, particularly the Dayforce module, is advantageous.
  • A solid grasp of Excel, including the ability to work at a medium to advanced level, with proficiency in macro and pivot table functionalities.
  • Previous experience in payroll processing and benefit management is a requisite.
  • A thorough understanding of statutory remittances and the associated requirements.
  • Experience in multi-store units or branches would be beneficial.
  • Strong skills in financial statement preparation are a necessity.
  • Proficiency in reconciliation tasks, including bank reconciliation, is expected.
  • The candidate should be based in Edmonton.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is mandatory.
